Zero waste week is a global initiative that challenges individuals and businesses to reduce waste, increase recycling and find innovative ways to repurpose materials that would otherwise end up in landfills or oceans. At Wrendale we are committed to protecting the flora and fauna which forms an integral part of our brand and try to adopt sustainable practices wherever possible to help do so. With animal designs inspired by nature, it's important to us that the giftware Hannah's artwork features on is also ethically produced. From greeting cards to homeware, each item is thoughtfully crafted with durability and environmental impact in mind. This approach ensures that products stand the test of time, reducing the need for frequent replacements and waste.
Our sustainable tote bags are just one of many products at Wrendale that combine style with functionality whilst also contributing towards a greener planet, disposable plastic bags often end up in landfills or polluting our oceans.
Tote bags are an eco-friendly alternative to single-use plastic bags because they can be used over and over again. Disposable plastic bags often end up in landfills or polluting our oceans, so by using a Wrendale tote bag you can contribute towards a healthier environment.
We make conscious choices when it comes to sourcing materials for our products to ensure we are always using options that are kinder for the planet - such as FSC certified paper and recyclable packaging.
We’re proud to have balanced through World Land Trust the equivalent of 53kg of carbon dioxide to protect 10m squared of critically threatened tropical forests by using carbon balanced paper for our soap packaging. We think that's quite an achievement and something we're really proud of.
We are committed to reducing waste and remove any unnecessary plastic packaging to reduce our impact on the environment. Currently, 97% of our range is packaged completely plastic free. We have also replaced bubble wrap and plastic air-filled pockets with recycled paper filler which is also recyclable.
More recently we made the decision to phase out the biodegradable film we have been using to protect our cards and have opted for an easily removable sticker to keep the envelope safely with the card instead.
It is important to us all here at Wrendale that we are able to get out in the community and support good causes. Ahead of the Marine Conservation Society's 'Great British Beach Clean Up' this month, we decided to take some of the Wrendale team down to our local beach to do a beach clean of our own. We collected 3 bags full of rubbish which would have otherwise ended up in our oceans. It was lovely to get away from our screens and enjoy some fresh air with the rest of the team - we're sure we'll be heading back there soon.
