I am thrilled to introduce you to our brand-new baby range, 'Little Wren'. I’ve wanted to develop a baby range for some time now - it’s something that we’ve been asked for time and time again both by our lovely customers and by our stockists. It took a while to settle on exactly what this would look like from an artwork perspective. I wanted the collection to capture the essence of ‘Wrendale’ and for the art to be instantly recognisable, but also to stand separately from our core range. My answer to that was to focus exclusively on baby animals and really bring the ‘cute factor’ to the collection.
I painted three different themes, ‘Little Forest’ featuring my favourite woodland characters, ‘Little Savannah’ with the loveliest giraffes, elephants and zebras and ‘Little Paws’ featuring playful puppies. As always, the art is the starting point for any new project, so once the designs were finalised, the work of developing the products could begin.
Quality and attention to detail are always at the forefront as we think about how a product will take shape and that is especially true for this collection. We have chosen 100% cotton for the babygrows for the ultimate in skin-kindness and added little details like the Peter Pan collar with an embroidered edge and little wren detail on the press studs.
The greeting card collection that complements the range and showcases all of the Little Wren artwork is probably the highlight for me - I love the design of the cards, teamed with soft pastels and gold foiling make them feel extra special. As always, the cards are fully recyclable and printed on our signature textured board which is certified for its environmental sustainability. For this range, the envelopes are also illustrated and add a lovely touch to a special collection. I still have all of the cards that were sent to my parents when I was born – they are such a special thing to keep and look back on, and I would love to think that some of these cards might be part of someone’s keepsakes in the future!
Environmental sustainability is core to our values and for Little Wren we decided to form a partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects - for every babygrow purchased, we will fund the planting of a tree. We have included a little gift tag with the babygrow as well which allows the tree planting to be dedicated to the child which I think is a lovely little touch making the gift even more special.
I’m really proud of this range and I hope that you like it too. We have lots of plans to introduce new items into the collection and I’m looking forward to sharing it with you as the plans unfold!
