Eco friendly water bottles and tips to bee-hydrated this summer
It’s been a long hot summer here in the UK, and the unexpected warmer than usual weather has meant our need to keep hydrated has greatly increased. Without further ado, read on for our top tips on how to stay hydrated this summer…
Invest in an eco friendly water bottle
Many of us are already trying our best to reduce our plastic waste by swapping to sustainable alternatives. From food packaging to coffee cups, plastic is still everywhere and can be difficult to avoid. But with the growing demand to go plastic-free, it’s getting easier to make even a small difference.
So, if you’re looking for ways to ditch the plastic, try switching to one of our eco friendly Wrendale water bottles. Featuring your favourite watercolour animal illustrations by artist Hannah Dale, our water bottles make the perfect replacement for single-use plastic bottles and are a great way to stay hydrated on the go.
Take a reusable water bottle with you wherever you go
Whether you’re planning a family day out, enjoying a picnic, or travelling on your daily commute, remembering to take a reusable water bottle with you is a good habit to get into. Especially with the summer heat, it’s important to drink enough water throughout the day to keep hydrated no matter what you’re up to. Don’t forget that whilst there’s a recommended daily intake of water, with the rise in hot temperatures and activities it is advised to increase this.
Top tip: our smaller 250ml Wrendale water bottles fit neatly inside our gorgeous collection of lunch bags – ideal for taking water with you to work or school in style.
Add some flavour to your water
Plain and simple water is a good way to gain our daily intake, though it’s not always the preferred option for some. To help you stay hydrated, try adding some natural flavouring by infusing water with fruits such as sweet-tasting berries, lemon, or cucumber – instantly delicious, healthy, and satisfying in the summer heat.
Alternatively, if you don't fancy fruit but still want something refreshing, opt for a fresh sprig of herbs such as mint poured over a glass with ice. If you're a lover of a hot beverage, then mint is also a popular choice in herbal tea and great for those cooler summer evenings.
Track your daily amount
If you struggle to remember how much water you drink per day and are actively wanting to increase the amount you consume, it can be beneficial to start tracking this each day.
Our Wrendale feel good journal is perfect for reflection and recording your daily water intake throughout the day, or in the evening just before bedtime. Setting several alarms in the day at different times can help remind you to drink more water. Or try incorporating water into your daily routine by drinking a glass just after you wake up, with every meal, and when you're out and about.
Wildlife needs water too!
It’s not just us humans who need to keep hydrated, wildlife does too! With the high temperatures of summer, ponds and water sources often dry up for local wildlife due to the lack of rainfall.
Help wildlife survive the hot weather by keeping bird baths full, topping up your pond level little and often, and putting out a clean, shallow dish of water for birds, hedgehogs, and insects. Remember to place a few stones in the dish to help any insects that might have fallen in.
